CLOSE
TO HEART - 1991 APHA black and white tobiano stallion.
If you are wanting to get back to basics and breed some
of the best foundation Paint and Quarter Horse blood available
in the country today into your good mares, this is the stallion
you need! "Close To Heart" is by "Atahi" (APHA black and
white tobiano), who carries the finest foundation Quarter
Horse lines ever bred, and is out of "J Bar's Patchwork"
(APHA dark bay and white tobiano). "J Bar's Patchwork" is
"Mister J Bar" bred. In the hardback book The Paint
Horse, "Mister J Bar" is the first horse listed
and written about in the chapter "The Great Sires". "Mister
J Bar's pedigree contains some of the best Waggoner breeding
and AAA running blood you'll see. All of the horses in "Close
To Heart's" background were the good blooded stock that
had the "know how" and athletic ability to do everything
asked of them and stay sound doing it!
If you
like to work cattle, team pen, or rein, then "Close To Heart"
is a boy at which you'll want to take a closer look! His
ancestors have been top reining horses, cow horses, race
horses, rope horses, western pleasure horses, halter horses,
arena horses, and hunters. With this versatility, "Close
To Heart" has a wide array of mares that will cross successfully
with him. This allows him to produce outstanding performance
individuals that will compete in a much larger than
usual variety of events. His first foal, born in 1996, was
out of a well bred, palomino, cropout QH mare, and was he
ever beautiful! "Close To Heart" produced a world caliber,
exquisitely marked, dark bay and white tobiano colt. (This
outstanding 1996 stallion prospect is available for purchase
-- $15K). All of "Close To Heart's" foals to date have had
correct conformation, fluid movement, and wonderful dispositions.
"Close
To Heart" has a beautiful head with a perfect blaze and
lovely dark eyes. His conformation is extraordinary, with
a long deep shoulder, strong back and hips, and straight,
clean legs with plenty of bone and foot, all set at the
proper angles. His movement is fluid and athletic. "Close
To Heart's" markings are a perfect 50/50 (black/white),
and he has 3/4 inch halos around all of his spots. His several
"bear-paw prints" on his sides set off a truly handsome
package. "Close To Heart" has four full sisters who have
been 100% color producers when crossed on solid colored
stallions. We feel that he also should have the ability
to throw a very high color percentage! "Close To Heart"
earned his name by being as close to his sire "Atahi" in
quality as you'll find. ("Atahi" is the Shawnee Indian word
for 'heart'.) This young stallion's disposition is very
good, and he is a gentleman to ride, handle, and breed.
With
"Close To Heart's" athletic ability, outstanding foundation
pedigree, good looks, gentle mind, and stunning color, he's
sure to be a champion in the show ring and a popular breeding
stallion to a wide variety of mares. Available for purchase.
$35,000. Breeding fee $500.
K
G MIRAGE - 1994 APHA chestnut and white tobiano stallion.
Very fancy Pinto Colored Sport Pony! By "Halloween" (APHA
sorrel and white overo stallion), out of "Sugar Blues" (APHA
palomino and white tobiano mare - "Atahi's" full sister).
There are not many horses born each year that have the ability
to become a successful stallion. An animal needs that combination
of flawless conformation, athletic ability, a trainable
mind, and that intangible characteristic "charisma". "K
G Mirage" has all of these qualities! He has beautiful coloring,
the prettiest head and neck you'll ever see, is very refined
while maintaining substantial bone, and has the very correct
conformation and flowing movement to model. He should put
a wonderful flowing stride and beautiful pinto markings

the Canadian, "A" large pony hunter circuit. "K G Mirage"
is just as talented, and if anything, more beautiful! If
you choose, he has a very bright future in the show ring.
He has an even more brilliant future siring Champion Sport
Ponies and "A" Circuit Hunter Pony winners. Mirage's beautiful

DIXIE
HEART - 1996 APHA dark bay and white tobiano stallion.
By "Close To Heart" (APHA), out of "Skips Dixie"
(APHA) - (Click for pedigree).
If you're looking for an exquisitely marked, world
caliber stallion, this is a fellow you really need to see!
He is 65% dark bay and 35% white, with his color placed
beautifully. He has a lovely head with a strongly pronounced
jaw and a beautiful shallow mouth. His eyes are dark with
a perfectly centered blaze. This young stallion's conformation
is flawless! "Dixie Heart's" pedigree boasts countless World
and National Champions on both sides! You've already heard
a bit about his sire, "Close to Heart", and his outstanding
working blood, but to top it off, his dam, "Skips Dixie"
(a multiple Halter winner and great working mare), is an
own daughter of the late, great Quarter Horse sire
"Sir Raleigh"! "Sir Raleigh" was the sire of multiple;
AQHA World Champions (in both Halter and Performance), AQHA
Champions, Superior Halter Horses, and Superior Performance
Horses (in Western Pleasure, Hunter Under Saddle, Working
Hunter, Pleasure Driving, Hunter Hack, Western Riding, and
Trail). He sired countless Register Of Merit horses. "Sir
Raleigh" was also the sire of "Skips Sierra Nick", the winner
of the 'Copenhagen/Skoal Superhorse' award at the AQHA World
Show. (A 13 page production record on "Sir Raleigh" is available
upon request.) This outstanding stallion prospect is one
of those few horses in the nation that really has
the ability to sire winners in both the halter and
a variety of performance classes. He should make an outstanding
reining horse, with the great looks to "knock-the-socks-off"
the judges, and the "cow-blood" to easily get his points
in cutting or team penning. It's seldom you find all of
these qualities in one package! Reasonably priced at $15,000.
Introductory breeding fee $500.

mares or want to put great movement and Paint markings

hunter and sport pony producers. For the discriminating

This colt is definitely stallion material! He is
beautifully marked, has a very cute head, textbook perfect

line-bred "Atahi" (AHSA Champion Sire), and should mark
his get with these same fine qualities. For the breeder
who wants to maintain outstanding bloodlines, "A"
circuit beauty and superior movement, he is a dream come
true! He will make a superb pony hunter, sport pony, and
dressage pony. He has the looks and motion to show on the
line, and his form over a free jump is perfect. His beautifully
placed tobiano markings are just the icing on the cake!

He has two matching hind stockings that go up to a point
in front of both hocks. He also has a lovely white blaze.
He looks like a small-scale Thoroughbred. His movement is
outstanding, and his conformation is very correct. When
I am describing in a clinic how a young stallion this age
should be made, this is the colt they should see! (As a
matter of fact, I am currently in the process of photographing
him to use as an example in my clinics.) He will make
an outstanding hunter pony, sport pony, or dressage pony
stallion! His genetics are superb! He should mature
right under 14.2 hands. He is fancy enough to show on the
line, and has a wonderful pedigree. By "Ebony Heart" (own
son of AHSA Champion Sire Atahi), and out of "Touch My Heart"
(dam of successful APHA stallion K G Braveheart). Reasonably

"EBONY HEART"
is a 1989, jet black, breeding stock stallion. He is a 1/2
TB son of "Atahi", out of the good mare "Ma
Cha Cha" ("Hello Dolly"), who was one of
the top hunters on the "A" circuit in Connecticut.
He stands 14-2 hands, and is a very "elegant"
mover. He has a gorgeous head, neck, and body, with very
correct legs and feet. Here on the farm, "Ebony"
has sired thirty-eight foals. A few of these youngsters
are on location, available for your inspection. Ebony is
a consistent producer of color. He has only been bred to
spotted mares and with the exception of three foals has
produced all paint offspring. When crossed on solid colored
mares, Ebony will produce solid colored foals with his black
gene being dominant. His get are exceptional movers, are
easily trainable, and have superior conformation. They are
the type of animals around which a producer could base their
whole program. His full brother has many "A" circuit
hunter championships, Medal class wins, etc. When bred to
mares under 14-2 hands, his get have maintained pony standards.
For a foal that can compete with the best ponies in the
United States or Canada, "Ebony Heart" is the
stallion you need. Breeding fee -- $500.
K
G BRAVEHEART - 1996 APHA bright chestnut and white tobiano
stallion. By "Ebony Heart" (APHA black stallion), out of
"Touch My Heart" (APHA chestnut and white tobiano mare).
This is one of the best made, most beautifully marked stallion
prospects I've seen in the United States in years. "K G
Braveheart" has "APHA Champion" written all over him! He
stands 15-1 hands. "Brave" will make a really flashy
reiner. He has also shown an interest in working cattle.
He's 'catty' in his movement, and has the most gorgeous,
long, white, full mane you've ever seen! ("K G Braveheart"
is very versatile in his abilities and when worked over
fences, has lovely, correct form. He is extraordinary in
all three gaits. Hunter mare owners will love him!) His
legs are wonderful (correct, plenty of bone, and great feet),
his body is well muscled with proper angles to be a superior
athlete, and his graceful neck and beautiful head set off
an outstanding package! To top off these bold physical qualities,
he has a sweet, inquisitive attitude. The kind that begets
a stallion who is willing, easy to handle, and develops
into a brilliant performer and breeder. He works beautifully
under saddle, and has proved to be intelligent, light, and
eager to please. (Last summer, a 14 year old girl exercised
him under saddle everyday.)
"Braveheart"
is line-bred "Atahi", and should mark his get with all of
the outstanding traits Karen Griffith Farms has been working
to achieve over the last thirty years. Make a name for yourself
in the show ring and breeding world that others spend a
lifetime attaining! A good investment for financial success
at $25,500. Introductory breeding fee $500.

ATAHI
II - 1999 APHA jet black and white tobiano stallion.
You can tell by his name how this spectacular young
stallion has been evaluated! "Atahi II" is Big, Black, and
Beautiful! For twenty-six years the name "Atahi" had belonged
to one horse only! I've added a 'II' after the name to describe
just how perfect this stud is! He is 70% black and 30% white.
His markings are fantastic, and his conformation is faultless!
He has an exceptionally sweet, willing disposition.
He is a double grandson of "Atahi". "Atahi II" is the best
balanced, highest quality black and white stallion (tobiano
or overo) of his age that I've ever seen. I feel he will
produce the next (fifth) generation of successful, sound,
beautiful, Paint horses at Karen Griffith Farms.
He is
by "Ebony Heart" (APHA black stallion-outstanding own son
of "Atahi", AHSA Champion Sire), out of "Win My Heart" (APHA dark bay and white, homozygous, tobiano
mare-one of "Atahi's" best daughters). Keep in mind that
the great horses like Leo, Wimpy, etc., etc., were produced
by this half brother, half sister mating of prepotent, genetically
correct sires. I waited 20 years to line breed "Atahi" offspring.
I wish I had begun sooner, but I'm old fashioned, and wanted
to breed to a large variety of mares to make sure there
were no 'fluke' genes there to crop up. You've probably
heard the old saying....."You could breed that horse to
a hay wagon and make a race horse! " Well, "Atahi" has proven
to be one of those genetically superior stallions. With
"Atahi II's superb genetics, absolutely flawless conformation,
willing disposition, and beautiful coloring, he should stamp
his offspring with all of the outstanding qualities that
Karen Griffith Farms has worked so diligently to achieve
over the last 30 years. Introductory breeding fee $750.
"Atahi
II" is not available for outright purchase, but I will begin
to sell reserved breeding shares this year. To obtain syndication/price
information, contact Karen Griffith, at Karen Griffith Farms,
34440 State Route 7, Pomeroy, Ohio 45769. Phone-740-992-5782.

K
G RAVEN HEART - 1995 APHA jet black and white tobiano
stallion. By "Ebony Heart" (APHA full brother to American
Horse Show Association Hunter Champion, "Bedazzle"), and
out of "Steal My Heart" (APHA homozygous tobiano "Atahi"
daughter). "Raven" is line-bred "Atahi" and it shows! He
is the stallion we've been awaiting to fill Atahi's shoes.
A Pinto Sport Horse breeder's dream! This outstanding
boy has perfect legs with plenty of bone and great feet.
He has a gorgeous head with a star, stripe, and snip, large
dark "Atahi" eyes, and a very refined neck. (Raven
has the most elegant neck on a mature stallion that you've
ever seen.) His topline is strong, tying into a beautiful
hip, and he has a wonderful slope to his shoulder. "Raven's"
movement is fluid and reaching. His markings are 60/40 (black/white),
and are beautifully placed. He is a lovely sight under saddle.
A recent customer, who was stunned by his beauty, described
him simply as "A work of art!"
"Raven
Heart" is smart, athletic, and classy! Being line-bred "Atahi",
he should stamp his get with these same exceptional qualities.
He's the "do-it-all" kind of horse that "makes a living"
for the people around him. "K G Raven Heart's" book will
be limited to 20 outside mares. Introductory breeding fee
$750.
NEWS
FLASH!!! .....All of Raven's foals to date have been
loud tobianos out of solid mares. If Raven's future foals
are half as good as these, his offspring are going to be
the Paints to beat in the new millennium!!
"K
G Raven Heart" will be syndicated this year. This will allow
discriminating breeders to benefit from this outstanding
individual's superb genetics and ability. For detailed information
